Hello, my name is Mary Anne Robbins, bargain hunter, design lover, incurable DIYer, mother of one and grandmother of one! Living on a narrowboat on the Grand Union Canal near Tring, Hertfordshire with my partner, a dog and 2 cats! Life could never be called boring.
I have a simple dream: transforming the drab into fab with an arsenal of needles and thread. I often shop in charity shops, car boot sales, flea markets and antique stores with an eye for repurposing the objects I find. I’ve made clothes and soft furnishings for people since I was a young child, starting off with dressing my dolls! My Mum taught me to sew and I also had some lessons at school but mostly it’s been a case of passion joined with practice.
When I got my first job, I made a whole wardrobe of outfits and started my career in style. By applying what I’d learnt at home, I started visiting charity shops and turned my vintage finds into unique pieces of clothing. In fact, I learnt enough to make my own wedding dress.
With the current trend for make do and mend, or upcycling as some people call it, I’m delighted to be able to share my knowledge and teach people how to make their shop bought clothes fit them, turn a vintage find into a couture creation and make unique soft furnishings for their home.
I look forward to welcoming you to my Sewing Clubs in Amersham and Chesham in Buckinghamshire and Tring in Hertfordshire as well as various special events. Why be plain when you can be amazing, Sewing Seams Easy opens up a whole new world of fun and creativity. Join us at our groups and classes, I didn’t know this much fun could be legal! Learn to sew in Beds, Bucks and Herts.
See you soon.
